Germany
For German-Trained Physiotherapists Complete a 3-year approved physiotherapy program. Pass the State Examination (Staatliche Prüfung) (written, oral, and practical). Apply for a professional license (Berufserlaubnis or Anerkennung). For Foreign-Trained Physiotherapists EU Graduates: Qualifications may be recognized, but B2-level German is required. Non-EU Graduates: Apply for qualification assessment (Anerkennung). If needed, complete an Adaptation Period or pass an Equivalency Exam (Kenntnisprüfung). Additional Requirements B2-level German proficiency. Registration with the local health authority before practicing.

China
Chinese-trained physiotherapists register with the National Health Commission but don’t require a specific licensing exam. Foreign-trained physiotherapists must get their qualifications recognized, obtain a work permit, and may need Mandarin proficiency for hospital jobs. Many foreign physiotherapists work in private clinics or sports rehab centers under different licensing rules.
